Sergio was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Health and Human Performance- Exercise Science from the University of Texas at Brownsville in 2011.
Sergio then went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas in 2015.
In 2018 Sergio completed a rigorous 3 year Residency and Fellowship from the Manual Therapy Institute and is now a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Physical Therapy. He has experience in outpatient rehabilitation where he has treated a variety of complex diagnosis, home health for the geriatric population, and has practiced in Central Texas and South Texas before starting his own practice.
Sergio is also Certified in Dry Needling and is a Certified Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association.
Sergio has done pro bono work with orthopedic surgeons and athletic trainers for high school athletes in the Central Texas area and enjoys community service work. Sergio is currently seeking to be Board Certified to become both an Orthopedic and Sports clinical specialist. Sergio is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Texas Physical Therapy Association, and American Academy of Orthopedic and Manual Therapy.
Aside from work, Sergio enjoys playing golf, watching movies, grilling, and spending time with his wife Rocio Martinez and his two boys Mateo and Mason.

Rocio was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas but her family's roots stem from a loving Mexican culture. She graduated with Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2013. She then developed experience in the adult, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care units at various hospitals in San Antonio between 2013-2015 in which she gained experience as a critical transport team member that transports sick infants via land and air.
She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas in 2017. Throughout her career she has earned Double Board Certifications as a Certified and Registered Respiratory Therapist and Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist. She has earned certifications in Dry Needling, Kinesio-taping, and recently became a Certified Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner (PRPC) and has earned the certifications in Pelvic Floor Therapy Levels 1and 2A from the prestigious Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institution.
She has gained experience in working in the acute care, outpatient, and home health settings for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. She also has experience in vertigo, aquatic therapy, women's health/pelvic health, neurological conditions, orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and post-surgery rehabilitation. She is now more focused on incorporating Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy to her practice as she has found a heavy need for it in the Brownsville, Olmito, Harlingen, San Benito, Los Fresnos, and surrounding areas of Cameron County. Aside from work, she enjoys spending time with her family.
There is only less than a handful of Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Practitioners in the entire Rio Grande Valley.

Clinical Director | Port Isabel
Dr. Hugo Mata, PT, DPT, Cert. DN
Hugo was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated in 2014 from The University of Texas at Brownsville with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He attended The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2020.
While earning his doctorate degree, he offered pro bono physical therapy in St Vincent’s Clinic for the under-insured population. He also collaborated with occupational therapy students while serving on a mission trip in Guatemala. He recently became a Certified Dry Needling Specialist and plans to further his education by earning a Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Therapy. When not in the clinic, Hugo enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Stretch Coach
Terra Volz
Terra has worked within the health and wellness environment for about 15 years. Beginning with personal interests in surfing, holistic wellness, Yoga/Meditation, and massage therapy. Studying in Austin Texas, she was able to attain skills in deep tissue and sports massage therapy.
This study led to much focus on flexibility, mobility, myofascial work, and rehabbing common injuries. Also catering to strains pertaining to "burnt out" or overworking the body. Her Yoga certification has been a strong pillar in her therapy practice as she believes breath-work is a necessity when receiving any type of massage or Stretch therapy. She has witnessed her mom receiving great care at Surge Physical Therapy and is honored to be working with such a knowledgeable team.

Kevin Sandoval
Kevin was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. Kevin is currently pursuing his Bachelor's in Exercise Science with a Concentration in Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Kevin's love for Physical Therapy sparked from when he sustained an injury and was diagnosed with Neuropraxia and learned more about Physical Therapy.
Kevin's dream is to obtain his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and to pursue the career that he is passionate about. During his off-time, Kevin loves to exercise, watch sports, and spend time with friends and family.

Physical Therapist Assistant
Marcelino Ibarra III, PTA
Marcelino (Lino) was born in Brownsville and raised in Los Fresnos, TX. In 2023, Lino graduated from South Texas College with an Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Through this opportunity, he gained experience in outpatient and hospital settings working with geriatric/adult populations, orthopedic traumas, and different neurological disorders.
During his time off while pursuing his degree, Lino also worked as a Physical Therapy Technician learning how to rehabilitate sport injuries in high level athletes.
Lino plans to further his education by getting his certifications in Dry Needling and in Neuro- Developmental Training to better serve the community of the Rio Grande Valley. In his spare time Lino enjoys playing golf and spending time with his friends and family.

Clarissa, BSc. Biomedical Sciences
Clarissa was born in Brownsville and raised in Los Fresnos, TX. In 2021, Clarissa graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences. In 2023 Clarissa received an internship with Surge Mobile Physical Therapy, where she gained experience working in an outpatient clinic.
Clarissa plans to further her education by attending a Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the Fall 2024. During her leisure time, Clarissa enjoys staying exercising, spending time with friends and family, coaching softball, and traveling.

Arely
Arely was born and raised in Brownsville, TX. Arely recently graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Physical Therapy. Arely plans to gain work experience in different settings and attend a Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the near future.
Arely's interest in Physical Therapy came about while observing the physical therapist at her high school work on student-athletes. In her spare time, Arely enjoys working out, listening to music, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Priscilla was born in Harlingen, TX and raised in San Benito, TX. She graduated from San Benito High School where she received her diploma. Attended University of Cosmetology of Arts and Science where she received her certificate. In her free time she likes to spend time with her baby outside. Priscilla will be continuing her education and aspires to be an elementary teacher.
