In this blog, we will explore 5 exercises that our physical therapist recommends for ankle and foot pain for our communities in Brownsville, Los Fresnos, Olmito, Port Isabel, South Padre Island, and Laguna Vista.

1. Toe Raise

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, and rise up onto your toes, hold for a few seconds, then release and repeat 10-15 times.

2. Ankle Alphabet

Sit in a chair and trace the letters of the alphabet with your foot.
Plantar Fascia Stretch: Sit in a chair, and place a towel around the ball of your foot. Gently pull the towel towards you, hold for 15-20 seconds, then release and repeat.

3. Plantar Fascia Stretch

Sit in a chair, and place a towel around the ball of your foot. Gently pull the towel towards you, hold for 15-20 seconds, then release and repeat.

4.Ankle Pumps

Sit in a chair and lift your foot off the ground, moving your ankle up and down. Repeat 10-15 times, then switch sides.

4. Plantar Fascia Stretch

Sit in a chair, and place a towel around the ball of your foot. Gently pull the towel towards you, hold for 15-20 seconds, then release and repeat.

5. Calf Stretch

Stand facing a wall, with one foot behind the other, and the front knee slightly bent. Lean forward and press your hands against the wall, hold for 15-20 seconds, then release and repeat.

Remember to breathe deeply and focus on proper form during each exercise. You may not see immediate results, but by incorporating these exercises into your daily routine, you can help to alleviate ankle and foot pain and improve your posture over time.
